Begin Anew of Middle Tennessee

Who We Are

Begin Anew empowers individuals to overcome obstacles caused by poverty by providing education, mentoring, and resources.  Begin Anew operates programs at four locations throughout Middle Tennessee.

What We Do

Along with weekly Bible study and free programs for our students' children, we offer three education tracks in separate programs to men and to women:
• HSE (High School Equivalency) offering tutoring and/or classes in five subjects: Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
• ELL (English Language Learners) accommodating three levels of instruction:
Level 1 - foundational vocabulary and basic grammar
Level 2 - builds on vocabulary and grammar with additional verb tenses, introduces adverbs, and teaches longer sentence structures
Level 3 - prepares a student for workplace vocabulary by learning phrases, sayings, and concepts; for example, how to exercise critical thinking skills and spends more time in comprehensive reading and writing
• Computer and Job Skills Training teaching programs like Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Windows, and Word, along with skills such as building a resume, etc.
